A Practice for Everyday Life

YDC is the collection of patron Yan Du, which encourages transnational conversations between Western and Asian cultures. Artists include Louise Bourgeois, Eva Hesse and Hu Xiaoyuan, among many others.

Our playful typographic identity for YDC echoes the collection’s duality and subversive character with a bespoke headline typeface working within a monochromatic palette. The bold typeface reflects Du’s individual approach to collecting and, in a sense, how artworks can express a multitude of meanings when placed in dialogue with others within a collection.

YDC’s website is designed as an enigmatic series of images, revealing snippets of the diverse collection through quotations from cultural figures and details of monochromatic artworks.
