Playing with language, poetry and type, this illustrated story by Sam Winston is about a dictionary who brings her words to life. A Dictionary Story was originally a handmade artist’s book, produced in an edition of 100 copies due to the time the original books took to create; their limited availability meant that these first editions had become expensive collectors items. We designed the sleeve for this new, and more affordable edition which was published to make the work available for a wider and more diverse audience. Taking library- and school-book covers as a key point of reference, the sleeve is die cut from PVC before being heat-bonded and screenprinted.
