A Practice for Everyday Life

Rose Wylie: Which One documents the last six years of Rose Wylie’s practice, which is inspired by pop culture, film, news imagery, and fashion photography. Wylie’s self portrait, Fluffy Head (2020), encases the monograph’s cover, playfully indicating the artist as the book’s focus. This immersive, painted expanse contrasts the publication’s flush cut edges, exposing the greyboard beneath.

Inside, a Swiss-bound volume is tipped into the hardcover case. The cover’s bold, playful typography resurfaces for titles within the publication in reference to Wylie’s characteristic hand-written typography. Paintings and works on paper are treated with equal importance and scaling throughout the book. Expansive details alongside large-scale installation shots showcase these works in conversation with one another, while a rich palette of coloured paper tip-ins divides the book into sections of works from different exhibitions.
