A Practice for Everyday Life

And So To Bed is a collection of twelve European folk tales in the form of a bedtime story. The book’s short, often whimsical, stories provide readers with a source of comfort and familiarity.

The use of layering in the book’s design imbues it with a feeling of delicate craftsmanship. Takeo Tamashiki Shiro was chosen for the book’s jacket, enveloping the inside pages in a layer of tactility reminiscent of the soft, textural quality of linen. The jacket’s all-over polka-dot pattern is accentuated by the deep rust colour of the book’s cover which sits directly behind it. Inside, hand-drawn illustrations by Giulia Garbin are accompanied by a refined typographic scheme, further emphasising the book as an object for quiet contemplation.
