A Practice for Everyday Life

In this commission for Art on the Underground to commemorate the centenary of the start of the First World War, Richard Wentworth explored different modes of communication to draw attention to the public and private communications prompted by the war, which was the first in the world to be fought by an entirely literate generation. We helped him realise large-scale installations at Piccadilly Circus and Southwark underground stations, incorporating typographic billboards and hoardings, and designed the accompanying leaflet which was distributed throughout the tube network.
