The Mudam Series documents the interventions, symposiums and lectures held at Mudam Luxembourg, with each volume focusing on a specific artist or theme as an expansion of the museum’s programme. Our design for the series follows a pragmatic approach, establishing clear hierarchy between titles, body text and footnotes. The uppercase letters and series number on the cover traverse the edges of the book, as a play on the idea of a book series as expanding beyond what you hold in your hand.
The first book of the series, What looks good today may not look good tomorrow: The Legacy of Michel Majerus, brings together different voices on the late Luxembourgish artist Michel Majerus. The vibrant yellow chosen for the title is drawn from Majerus’ strong use of colour. Each book in the series will continue in the pocket-size format, and will take on the same simple but playful approach to the cover, using a characteristic two-colour text-only palette.
