A Practice for Everyday Life

Librairie Marian Goodman is a new street-front bookshop and small gallery on rue du Temple in Paris, a few doors down from the main Galerie Marian Goodman space in Le Marais. We were commissioned to art direct the renovation and design of the interior of the space and the external façade, building a team including architects OMMX.

Our scheme for Librairie Marian Goodman exploits the dimensions of the premises itself, creating a flexible display system running the length of one wall which can be reconfigured to accommodate a diverse range of objects. Opposite, open shelving houses an extensive library of art books and other works, and tables in the centre of the space are supported by folded metal profiles designed to also function as book stands. We worked closely with OMMX to bring the design from concept to realisation, and in addition designed all signage throughout, created a labelling system for the items on display, and devised a packaging system for Librairie Marian Goodman including wrapping paper, bags, stickers and totes.
