Cromwell Place is a new gallery complex located in South Kensington, London’s museum quarter, close to the Victoria & Albert Museum. Conceived by gallerist, art dealer and Art Dubai founder John Martin, the project converts a row of heritage properties on Cromwell Place into a gallery complex incorporating a number of exhibition spaces, offices, art storage and meeting areas.
We were commissioned to create the identity for Cromwell Place, and took inspiration for the logotype from the work of artist and typographer John Vinycomb. Along with designing their marketing materials, we also designed a pre-launch website for the project and a detailed illustration of the buildings to use across all marketing materials.
Vinycomb’s work is housed at the nearby Victoria & Albert Museum. As well as being an artist and type designer, he was also an acknowledged expert in heraldry who was regularly consulted by the British and European royalty and aristocracy.
