Make It Now! is both a biography and a guide to creativity. In it, Anthony Burrill shares stories from different stages of his career and offers anecdotes about specific projects, presenting both light-hearted creative prompts and problem-solving advice. We used these anecdotes to form the chapter structure of the book, and then worked closely with Burrill to to create new letterpress titles for each chapter, incorporating his recognisable phrases of encouragement throughout.
We were keen for Make It Now! to feel like a sketchbook, and brought in images of Burrill’s inspiration and pages of his lettering ideas in order to emphasise this. By suggesting a combination of different paper stocks to use throughout, and reducing the colour palette, the book feels part scrapbook and part guidebook – a beautifully-crafted object that is satisfying to read.
