A Practice for Everyday Life is a design agency working with some of the world’s most successful companies, galleries, institutions and individuals. We create a diverse range of work including brand identities, art direction, signage & wayfinding, exhibition design, print, editorial & publishing and websites from concept to production.

The Architects’ Journal

AJ Magazine Redesign

With the redesign of the AJ Magazine and AJ Specification our ambition was for the content-led editorial to be presented with a clarity and simplicity that it had lacked previously. Our design paired the journal’s plain-speaking language with a clear yet random layout of images to create an ephemeral look. This reflected ideas which the editor was pushing in the content; for example, showing a building in its progressive state from sketches and plans, to the finished build. At some points the images overlap each other, and at others they hang from a line as though pinned up on a wall.
