A Practice for Everyday Life

Spring was a non-profit arts space located in the Wong Chuk Hang industrial neighbourhood of Hong Kong, which played host to an international cross-disciplinary program of artist and curatorial residencies, exhibitions, music, film and talks. The venue contained three artists’ studios, an exhibition and performance space and a large outdoor terrace for events and installations.

The interlocking circle emblem was developed from architectural ideas used throughout the space, and this notion of connectivity resonates with Spring itself, as a visual metaphor for its ever-evolving programme. We took a subtle, typographic approach throughout the identity, maintaining a quiet but distinctive presence throughout. A meticulous attitude to signage and labelling throughout Spring is intended to direct and assist new visitors and arriving residents, who would have no prior introduction to its layout and amenities, offering a practical, creative and subtle wayfinding scheme.
