Text

Beauty Is Power was the first museum exhibition to explore the life, ideas and legacy of legendary cosmetics entrepreneur Helena Rubinstein, whose life followed a remarkable trajectory—from humble beginnings, she developed a global business renowned for its innovation and built an extensive collection of art, fashion and antiquities.

We worked with architects Feilden Fowles to create an exhibition design which celebrated Rubinstein’s achievements and her passion for art. The installation took inspiration from her distinct aesthetic, as well as the interiors of her stores, to display these varied exhibits and tell Rubinstein’s story. The accompanying book presents images of works from the exhibition alongside archival materials, advertisements and the many self-portraits Rubinstein commissioned during her lifetime. The layout and cover were kept intentionally free of flourishes and ostentation, allowing the richness of the content to speak for itself.
