A Practice for Everyday Life

The British Council hosts a programme of exhibitions available for international touring, offering galleries and museums around the world the opportunity to engage with contemporary British art. Alongside each exhibition, they produce an accompanying publication. We were commissioned to design the first of these: a folio of postcard-sized prints and a short text-based publication showcasing and exploring the drawings of David Hockney, as a counterpart to the touring show David Hockney: Words and Pictures. The grid pattern and colour palette are derived from works within the exhibition, emphasising Hockney’s outlook on the everyday. In addition to this publication, we also designed a catalogue booklet promoting the full programme of touring shows.
