Onkar Kular

Accept No Other Imitations

This publication we produced for Onkar Kular provides a glimpse into the research he carried out during a research fellowship at the Design Interactions department of the Royal College of Art. The book itself is just the beginning of his fascination with popular culture, and the projects he documents within celebrate people's ability to imagine their own worlds. Onkar developed a number of design proposals inspired by a collection of tales from these 'inner worlds'. Which ranged from Punch and Judy's Revenge – a public performance where children were invited to take on the persona of Punch and Judy in order to destroy official Disney merchandise – to a Super Hero's sports day. It was important to keep this simple, with each page being metaphorically split into 2 halves. The bottom half illustrating the small collection of tales, and the larger top half documenting Onkar's thoughts.
